Congratulations to music teacher Miss Cynthia Needham of Greenfield Middle School.

Needham has earned Jazz Educator of the Year by the Kern County Music Educators Association (KCMEA.)

Needham began her musical career with GMS in 2018 and since then, has gifted audiences with student concerts, led graduation marches and band parades, but more than anything, Needham has taught hundreds of students life lessons that extend far beyond the classroom.

Through her dedication, encouragement, and passion she reminds students of the importance of teamwork, perseverance, confidence, and finding joy in what they do

Needham is known to bring enthusiasm, kindness, and a willingness to support her fellow teachers. Whether she's encouraging a student, or lending a helping hand to a colleague, Needham's impact can he heard in the music she teachers and felt throughout the community she serves.

KCMEA will officially honor her achievement during a ceremony in February 2027. This non-profit organization grants scholarships, host honor events, and provides local educators with top-quality professional development opportunities.
