Counselor's Corner

Parent Portal/Zero Period

The Parent Portal is a tool for you to stay informed and engaged in your child’s education. The Parent Portal gives parents and guardians access to view your child’s grades, monitor your child's attendance and stay current on homework, projects and deadlines. Zero Period runs Tuesday-Friday from 7:20-7:45 A.M. and provides students with the extra time and instruction they need to get their assignments completed

Individual Counseling

When certain problems arise, students may be in need of individual counseling to overcome a specific issue. Assistance will be provided to each and every student in order to clarify a particular concern, explore options to resolve issues, and help them create a plan or strategy to remedy adverse situations. All long-term counseling is done by professionals form the Henrietta Weill Memorial Child Guidance Clinic

Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a proactive approach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture needed for all students to achieve social, emotional and academic success

Student Intervention Team

Through the Student Intervention Team, parents will act as an advocate for their child working with teachers and other school professionals to create a plan to improve their child’s overall academic performance. By getting more involved in the educational process, parents will create beneficial relationships with their children, fostering a more conducive environment for learning and growth

After School Program

The program operates after school each day from the end of the school day until 6:00 PM. Students are provided a nutritious snack, the opportunity to work on homework, as well as tutoring and mentoring. In addition, students have access to a wide variety of recreation and enrichment activities and clubs: fine arts, dance, debate, Book Club, various sports teams, and music. All athletes must be enrolled in the After School Program if they plan on playing in any organized school sports. Those who attend should achieve a greater sense of team-work, pride and self-worth. In addition, they will understand the importance of being internally motivated and how it directly affects their decision making process. They also learn conflict mediation skills as well as leadership skills. *See our ASP Site Director, for details
